John Jorde, 1706-60, a carpenter from Hirschfelde, Silesia. He joined the Church at Herrnhut, and came to Bethlehem in 1743, with his- wife, Margaret, m. n. Home, and a colony of 36 married couples, most of whom settled at Nazareth and neighborhood to farm the land belonging to the Church there. For a while he served also as lay evangelist.
